Vencermos Brigade, at the Peace Bridge
Here is a news report about this summer's Venceremos Brigade, crossing the Peace Bridge back to USA. On Monday morning, July 23rd, Buffalo welcomed these courageous U.S. citizens,
defying the ban on travel to Cuba.
Article from The Buffalo News, July 23, 2012:
31 Americans due to return from Cuba.
A group of 31 Americans who have spent the last two weeks in Cuba without permission from the U.S. government will cross the Peace Bridge from Fort Erie, Ont., to Buffalo this morning.
Rallies will be held on both sides of the border for the group, traveling with the Venceremos Brigade as a protest to the U.S. embargo on travel and trade with Cuba. Supporters will gather at 9 a.m. to greet them in Buffalo's Front Park near the Peace Bridge.
The group took more than 1,000 pounds of embargoed materials to the island nation, volunteered on community projects and talked with a variety of Cubans.
